Description

Ceramic Pitcher with Lid
A pitcher is a wide, rounded vessel with a narrow neck and a handle, traditionally used for serving and storing water, beverages, and other liquids. This particular pitcher is made of ceramic.
The body of the pitcher is oval in shape, transitioning smoothly into a spouted neck. A pronounced pouring spout is formed on one side, while a large, curved handle is attached on the opposite side.
The pitcher is brown in color and decorated with a stylized underglaze floral design, featuring flowers, branches, and leaves arranged in a free composition. The decoration is hand-painted.
Clay tableware is believed to possess special properties. For example, milk stored in ceramic jugs stays cool and fresh for a longer time. Although pitchers are rarely used in modern daily life-since many beverages are now sold in ready-made packaging-an elegant painted or even a simple unglazed clay pitcher can still serve as a charming centerpiece, symbolizing comfort and hospitality. Many winemakers also prefer to sell premium wines in ceramic vessels, as they help preserve the wine’s valuable qualities for an extended period.
