Tombstone.

Описание

Tombstone. This white marble tombstone was erected in 1881 by Lieutenant General G.A.Kolpakovsky on the grave of Chokan Valikhanov under the direction of the Turkestan Governor-General K.P.von Kaufman.
An inscription is engraved on the surface of the monument:
“HERE LIES THE REMAINS OF STAFF RITTMEISTER CHOKAN CHINGISOVICH VALIKHANOV, DECEASED IN 1865.”
Below the inscription are two crescent moons facing in opposite directions, separated by an arrow. Beneath that is another inscription:
“At the request of the Turkestan Governor-General, Adjutant General von Kaufman, in recognition of Valikhanov’s scientific contributions, this monument was erected by Lieutenant General Kolpakovsky in 1881.”
The monument was deliberately split in the middle—traces of the crack are still visible at the center.19th century.
