Mug (saptaiak)

Description

A traditional Kazakh wooden drinking vessel, commonly used for fermented dairy drinks such as kumis, shubat, and ayran. Carved from a single piece of wood. The handle (“saptaiak’s sap”) ends in a round form, comfortable for gripping with fingers - which gives the name “saptaiak” (from “sap” meaning handle).
