The main frame is made of wood, approximately 1 cm thick, and the exterior is decorated with ornamental bone inlays. The corners of the chest are reinforced and adorned with metal nails.
The main decorative elements are bone plates carved in traditional Kazakh ornamentation. The length of the plates ranges from 10 to 12 cm, and the width varies from 1 to 2.5 cm. They are carefully nailed around the perimeter of the chest, particularly at the corners, giving the piece an elegant appearance.
The lid is attached to the main body with two metal hinges and also features special fittings for a lock. Some of the bone elements along the edges of the chest are damaged (broken).
