Description
The coin is round with a square hole in the center. A convex rim, 3 mm thick, surrounds the edge of the coin. A rim also surrounds the central hole. The obverse features a circular Sogdian legend in cursive, counterclockwise, “xwt’w w’xswt’wy pny” (Kamyshev, 2002) O.S. Tamga of the Turgesh people, with the runic sign “r” on the left and the Sogdian inscription “pny” below.
