Coin of the Turgesh Khaganate

Description

The coin is round with a square hole in the center. The edge of the coin has a raised rim, 3 mm thick. The central hole is also surrounded by a rim, 1 mm thick. The obverse features a circular Sogdian legend, written in cursive, counterclockwise. The legend consists of four words: “Вүу twrkys ү´ү´n pny” (Lord of the Turgesh Khagan). The reverse features the Turgesh tamga, inscribed within the coin’s field between the thick, linear rim and the square hole; the square hole is outlined by a diamond, as part of the tamga.
