The exhibit is a tulwar-type saber, a traditional Indian melee weapon. The blade was strongly curved, which made it particularly effective at slashing. Made by hand from metal. Tulwar sabers were widely used in India and neighboring countries, symbolizing not only martial prowess, but also military honor.
