Kazakh battle axe with a handle covered in silver. Dated to the 19th century.
The axe is the combat weapon of the Kazakh warrior. The handle is crescent-shaped.
The front side is trapezoidal, while the top is square. Both sides are decorated with the handle and tops. The handle depicts a Kazakh hero drawing his bow. The warrior sits on a galloping horse, the horse’s forelegs adorned with two leopards.
The main part of the lid depicts two swans in a square frame.
The images on the top are unclear. The top of the axe has grooves on both sides. The handle is short and wooden, with one end rounded.
The handle is covered with a 960 sterling silver plate, located 13.5 cm from the main body of the weapon. The surface of the plate is decorated with an engraving of plant leaves.
