Akinak of a Saka Warrior

Description

Akinak is a short dagger made of steel for religious ceremonies in the Saka tribes (VIII century BC) Total length-19.5 cm, blade length-11 cm, width-2 cm, handle length-8.5 cm, width-1.5 cm. It was found in Lepsinsk, in the district of Taircol. Akinak had excellent piercing properties and had sufficient mass to deliver cutting blows. The sword had heart-shaped cutouts and a flat top in the form of a horizontal short stripe or crescent. The blade has stiffening ribs.

Condition
