“Excellent Mortar Gunner” Badge

Description

The badge is shield-shaped and framed on both sides by stylized oak branches. A circular enamel medallion occupies the central section. The white border bears the inscription “ОТЛИЧНЫЙ МИНОМЕТЧИК” (“Excellent Mortar Gunner”), with a small star positioned below. In the center, a hammer and sickle are depicted against a red background. The lower part of the shield features representations of mortar guns. The reverse preserves the contours of the obverse composition and has a pin fastening. The badge was manufactured in 1942 and represents Soviet military insignia associated with the period of the Great Patriotic War.
