The War Years. Hope

Description

Author: Duysenbayev, Kenzhebay. 1942
The interior scene depicts a man in a white headcovering, a child lying beside him, and a woman in a waistcoat and light blue dress with a headscarf. The action unfolds in a room with a window visible in the background. The colour scheme combines restrained ochre-brown interior tones, colour accents in the woman’s clothing, and the red-brown floor. A dense painterly style and the compositional arrangement of the figures reflect the theme of family unity during a difficult period.
