Portrait of a Kazakh woman in national dress. The figure is depicted frontally, at chest level, against a light ochre background. The headdress is a richly decorated saukele with a semi-transparent veil (zhaulyk); the garment is a deep burgundy shapan with gold ornamental trim. The face is modeled with dense, impasto brushstrokes, with pronounced plasticity of the cheekbones and forehead; the gaze is directed straight at the viewer, the expression calm and focused. The painterly manner is characterized by dense textural elaboration. Bottom left - signature and date.
