Family of Livestock Breeders

Description

Author: Denisov, Nikolai. 1943
A genre scene of rural life. In the foreground are an elderly man and woman: she sits wrapped in a white shawl, while he crouches beside her, holding a hand to his headwear. Behind them unfolds a scene of village life - figures of people near the buildings and horses under a sunset sky. The restrained, warm palette dominated by brown-ochre tones and the generalised, monumental forms of the figures lend the composition an epic, narrative intonation.
