A semi-abstract composition in a cool blue-violet palette, against which a seated female figure is painted on the left side of the canvas - in a dark headscarf and ochre-orange clothing, rendered in generalized, large impasto planes. To the right of the figure is the vertical silhouette of a girl in a saukele. The palette is built on the dominance of blue and violet, set off by the figure’s warm ochre and red accents, lending the composition an intimate mood. The paint handling is textured, the form modelled with broad strokes and no detailing, the facial features barely indicated - the image is resolved in an emotionally generalized manner.
