A unified decorative painting that brings together traditional objects of Kazakh daily life. At the centre, set on the edge of a zhozy (a low round table), stands a set of vessels filled to the brim with white koumiss; its rounded forms create an expressive rhythm while structuring the pictorial space. The composure of the vessels is balanced by the dynamic diagonal of an ozhau (ladle) resting inside, while the surrounding geometric ornament establishes an additional rhythmic link between the objects. The palette is rendered in soft, cool shades: the cool blue-grey and green-turquoise range is enlivened only by light ochre and white accents. A high angle of perspective lends the work an epic quality, presenting the still life as a poetic celebration of traditional culture, where the beauty of everyday objects reveals the spirit of Kazakh life and hospitality.
