An urban landscape: in the foreground are rectangular flower beds, lamp posts entwined with greenery, and the figures of passers-by upon the paths of a public garden; in the depth a building under construction and a crane are visible. The compositional solution is built upon the symmetrical frontal deployment of the garden, with the lines of the beds and paths receding into perspective, where the verticals of the lamps and trees establish a rhythmic foundation. The manner of painting is distinguished by light, translucent execution with fine elaboration of detail; the realist style conveys the image of a city being renewed and the atmosphere of a summer day.
