Description
Author: Kasteyev, Abylkhan. 1904-1973
An industrial landscape centered on the panorama of a human-transformed environment. In the foreground is a strip of grassy land alongside ochre-red hill slopes; below lies a pit with a flowing river and a riverside road traversed by trucks. The space is intersected by high-voltage power line pylons. In the center, on the opposite bank, stands the main structure of the hydroelectric power station: a white station building with a generator hall, to the right of which an earthen dam forms the Kapchagay Reservoir; nearby are cranes and buses, and in the distance, a bridge spans the river. The color palette is built on the contrast of the warm ochre-red tones of the earth with the cool turquoise of the water and the blue of the sky; the elevated panoramic viewpoint, the detailed realistic painting technique, and the clarity of spatial composition align the work with the tradition of the Soviet industrial landscape. At the lower right - signature and date.
