Author: Lizogub, Maria. 1909-1998
A landscape composition depicting a corner of a southern village. The right side features a mud-brick house with a flat roof illuminated by the sun, with two small female figures seated on the ground in front of it. To the left and behind the house rise trees with lush foliage, casting shadows onto the light ground of the foreground. Executed in a free, study-like manner with broad, generalized brushwork, the work preserves the immediacy of plein-air observation. The color scheme builds on a soft contrast between the warm, ochre-pink tones of the building and earth and the cool green and bluish shades of the foliage and shadows, while the introduction of staffage figures enlivens the scene and imparts a genre touch. At the lower right - signature and date.
