Landscape

Description

Author: Leontiyev, Leonid. 1913-1983
Executed in a free, sketch-like manner, this landscape captures a corner of a house with a gabled roof and dark window openings in the foreground. Behind it rises a dense wall of tall trees rendered in vibrating vertical strokes. The light, airy color scheme builds on the contrast between the cool blue-green tones of the foliage, the luminous background, and the warm ochre of the house walls. The light, hatch-like texture of the pastel gives the scene a delicate quality.
