A landscape depicting a rural outskirts motif. In the foreground, a railed wooden bridge spans a ravine whose slopes are covered with bushes and young trees. In the middle ground on the right stands a house with an annexe, while grey, overcast sky extends beyond thickets of trees that appear on the left. Executed en plein air with dense brushstrokes, the work features generalized forms where tree branches are drawn in fine lines over masses of colour. The palette is built on muted olive-brown tones, punctuated by the striking red spot of the house.
