The Kazakh Cavalry Regiment

Description

Author: Nurmukhammedov, Nagimbek. 1924-1986
A historical composition in the genre of Soviet Realism features, in the foreground, a group of five officers, one of whom holds the regimental banner, backed by a body of cavalrymen on horseback. A machine gun is positioned at the lower left. Executed in an energetic manner with expressive brushwork, the work presents generalized forms defined by sharp silhouettes. The contrasting palette juxtaposes the dark earthy, brown-ochre, and muted green tones of the uniforms with the warm red-orange glints of light and the vivid red cloth of the banner. The work embodies a spirit of military unity, resolve, and readiness for battle. At the lower left – signature and date.
