A genre composition centered on traditional domestic labor depicts a woman in the foreground beside an earthen stove with a chimney set against a backdrop of adobe structures: she is frying baursaks in a cauldron and transferring them into a large basin with a skimmer, flanked by two trays of dough prepared for frying. The genre motif of preparing a national dish unfolds the daily life and traditional ways of a Kazakh aul. Executed in a plein-air study manner with sweeping brushstrokes, the forms are generalized, with light and shadow rendered in broad color planes. The palette relies on the contrast between the rich blue sky and garments against the warm golden-ochre tones of the earth, buildings, and baursaks. At the lower right – signature.
