Portrait of the Artist’s Wife

Description

Author: Nasedkin, Nikolay. 1918-1991
A waist-length portrait executed en plein air, centered upon a seated woman facing the viewer against a lush grassy backdrop, holding an open parasol in her left hand. Just behind her to the left, the small figure of a child in red subtly emerges. Rendered in a free, study-like manner with broad brushstrokes and generalized forms, the composition relies on a vibrant color contrast between the deep green background, the soft pink umbrella, and the cool blue tone of the dress.
