Girlriends

Description

Author: Fedyanin, Stepan. 1927
A genre composition featuring two young women seated side by side against a conventionally rendered background of greenish-yellow foliage. On the left, depicted in profile, is a fair-haired young woman wearing a yellow cardigan, a white headscarf, and an apron. On the right, facing the viewer, sits a dark-haired woman in a vibrant orange-red dress and a blue headscarf. Sharp contouring of the silhouettes and rich, saturated color passages emphasize the flat, decorative character of the composition.
