Iron

Description

Household item for smoothing out wrinkles in clothes. The forged hollow sole is made of cast iron. It is used by heating and igniting coals inside the iron. A sturdy handle, mounted on a metal lid at the base of the hinged opening, is made of wood.
Dating: early 20th century.
Technique: factory production.
