Iron

Description

A household item for smoothing the folds of clothes. The forged hollow sole is made of cast iron. It is used by heating and igniting coals inside an iron. The sturdy handle, mounted on a metal lid at the base of the hinged opening, is made of wood.
Dating: the beginning of the twentieth century.
