Iron

Description

Household item for smoothing out wrinkles in clothing. The forged hollow sole is made of cast iron. It is used by heating and igniting coals inside the iron. A sturdy handle, affixed to the metal lid on the base of the flip-top, is made of wood.
Dating: early 20th century.
