Coin of the Turgesh Khaganate

Description

The coin is round with a square hole in the center. A convex rim surrounds the coin’s edge. A rim also surrounds the central hole. The obverse features a circular Sogdian legend in cursive, fragmentary. The reverse features the Turgesh tamga, inscribed within the coin’s margin between the thick, linear rim and the square hole. The square hole is outlined by a diamond, as part of the tamga.
