Kobyz

Description

One of the most ancient Kazakh national instruments. The main parts of the kobyz are the body, neck, bridge, camel skin, strings, tuning pegs, and string holders. The kobyz has a double, ladle-shaped body, a short, curved neck, a large flat head, and consists of a hollowed, membrane-covered double hemisphere with a handle attached at the top and an opening at the bottom for fixing the bridge. The two strings of the kobyz are made by twisting horsehair. It was transferred from the Museum of National Musical Instruments to the L. Asanova Museum.
