Tablecloth

Description

This rectangular embroidered tablecloth is a valuable decorative item adorned with the traditional Kazakh embroidery technique known as bizkeste, and was used during ceremonial gatherings and for receiving guests. The surface of the item features two large diamond-shaped motifs embroidered with light red, blue, green, and pink silk threads. Their central areas are filled with a light six-petaled floral motif and intricate curled “qoshqarmüyiz” ornamental patterns. The central composition is framed by a winding blue chain-like border. The outer edge of the tablecloth is finished with light red fabric featuring diamond-shaped stitching in golden-yellow thread and trimmed with dark blue piping.
