Description
Petroglyph (rock art). The image was created using the picketing (point-chipping) and engraving techniques. In the central part of the stone, the figure of a horse (or a ungulate animal) is depicted facing right. The four legs, neck, and head are clearly carved using both contour and silhouette methods. The lighter shade within the outline was achieved by exposing the deeper layer of the stone.
This petroglyph is a valuable archaeological artifact illustrating the worldview, totemic beliefs, and economy (the culture of horse domestication) of the ancient tribes of Zhetysu (Andronovo culture, Saka).
