Tuskiz

Description

Tuskiz is a traditional item of Kazakh decorative and applied art. It is a decorative wall hanging placed in a prominent place in a yurt or residential house, usually at the head of a bed. This tuskiz is made using the appliqué technique: a national ornament cut from light brown (reddish-brown) plush fabric is applied to a black velvet base. The contours of the ornament are trimmed with white braid. The lower and side edges of the item are decorated with plush edging.
