The work depicts a scene in a knitwear workshop: in the centre, three figures are engaged in examining a coloured knitted fabric; on the left, a worker with a cart is shown. The composition is built on the horizontal rhythm of the machines and the vertical lines of the human figures. The central group is emphasized by light and more saturated colour accents. The bright checked fabric in the workers’ hands serves as the main decorative and semantic centre of the composition. The work belongs to genre painting on an industrial theme, executed in a free realistic manner.
