Two figures in red-orange garments are depicted from behind at the water’s edge, turned toward a blazing fire in the depth of the scene, around which the small figures of celebrants and the silhouettes of yurts can be discerned. The colouring is built on the contrast between warm ochre-red tones and the cool lilac hills of the horizon; the surface of the water breaks the reflections of the fire into vertical, shimmering strokes. The manner is expressive, the brushwork broad and free. The mood is lyrical and festive, with a touch of intimate contemplation.
