A multi-figure composition in an open space, against a backdrop of yurts, during a traditional festival. A group of women is placed on the left, men in national dress on the right; the figures are conveyed in a generalized way, without detailed working of the faces. In the distance lies a light steppe landscape with white rounded yurts beneath a high sky. The space is built up in planes and recedes into depth; the whole scene is bathed in warm sunlight. The colour scheme is decorative and saturated, built on the contrast of warm yellow-orange tones with cool blue and green shades. The painting is executed in free, energetic brushstrokes; form is modelled through colour and the contours are generalized.
