Shinkildek

Description
The Shinkildek is a rare traditional string instrument in Kazakh music. This particular piece was used in the “Workers’ Youth” ensemble, founded by composer Mukan Tulebayev in 1934. The body is carved from a single piece of solid wood, which enhances its resonance and tonal clarity.
While the Shinkildek is rarely used as a solo instrument, it plays a distinct role in ensemble settings. Its bright, ringing sound stands out among other instruments, especially in the higher register, adding lightness and melodic clarity to the overall texture.
