Description

Torsyk is a traditional vessel used for storing and pouring kumys (fermented mare’s milk), shubat, or irkit. It is made from the neck hide of a camel, deer, or ox. The dehaired hide is molded, heat-treated, and sewn with leather straps. Like the saba, the torsyk is smoked with pine cones or branches of juniper and willow for preservation and aroma.
