Description
Tekemet is a traditional felt carpet. The entire ornamentation consists of four separate rectangular compositions. At the center of each rectangle, on a white background, there is a circular shape divided into yellow, green, and red sectors. Along the inner edges of the rectangles, red and dark green “syngar muiz” (single horn) patterns are arranged on a white background. The four rectangles are bordered together along the outer edge with green “syngar muiz” motifs, which transition into “qoshqar muiz” (ram’s horn) designs at the corners on a red background. The border of the tekemet is made of a black strip, varying in width from 7 to 12 cm.
The back side of the tekemet (without ornamentation) consists of a white rectangular felt framed by a black border, with randomly placed red, green, and yellow smudged spots.
