Description

Clay khum (storage vessel). Found intact, with decorative patterns on the surface. Well-fired and of high quality. Rim diameter is 42 cm, base is 16 cm. Discovered in the medieval city of Sygnak. Specialists from the Archaeological Research Center of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi International Kazakh-Turkish University conducted archaeological excavations at the site of medieval Sygnak. During the excavations, cultural layers dating from the 12th to the 17th centuries were uncovered. The structure of the city’s outer fortification wall was identified, and several building remains were excavated. The vessel was used in daily life for storing grain.
