Description
A traditional combined accessory from Western Kazakhstan that combines the functions of a ring and a thimble and was used in women’s sewing and needlework. The object consists of a thin circular ring shank with ornamental decoration and a flat or slightly convex thimble plate attached to its front. The surface of the plate features a textured raised element resembling a palm, serving as a supporting surface for the needle, with recessed and openwork decoration executed in the oymaş technique. The plate and ring shank are decorated with raised vegetal or geometric scroll motifs. The object is made of copper using stamping, impression, edge cutting, casting, and carved ornamentation techniques.
