Shu District Historical and Local History Museum
The Shu District Historical and Local History Museum is located at 199 Baluan Sholak Street, Tolebi village, Shu District, Zhambyl Region. The museum building was officially opened to the public on August 29, 2019. The institution was originally established in 1986 on a voluntary basis, and since 1989 has operated as a district branch of the Zhambyl Regional Museum of History and Local Lore.
The building is single-story, with a total area of 318.5 m², of which 258.8 m² are occupied by exhibition halls. The museum’s exhibitions are divided into five sections, covering the history and culture of the Shu region from the Stone Age to the period of independent Kazakhstan.
The Shu District Historical and Local History Museum serves as a scientific and cultural center that studies, collects, preserves, and passes on historical data, ancient monuments, and cultural heritage inherited from ancestors. The main goal of the museum is to acquaint the younger generation with the history of their native land, foster love for national values, and instill a sense of patriotism.
The main areas of the museum’s work include:
• Scientific research and collection management: collecting, documenting, preserving, and integrating artifacts into scientific circulation.
• Cultural and educational activities: organizing exhibitions, lectures, museum classes, and guided tours.
• Educational work: fostering historical awareness and patriotic spirit among community members, especially the youth.
Collection management at the Shu District Historical and Local History Museum is conducted systematically. The museum’s collection, as one of its main areas of activity, includes scientific documentation, preservation, and replenishment of artifacts.
