The Museum of Literature and Art named after Bukhar Zhyrau

The subject of the Company's activity is the popularization of the historical and cultural heritage of the Republic of Kazakhstan, cultural, educational, scientific and research functions.

The objectives of the Company's activities are:

1) provision of research, educational, collecting, conservation, exhibition and exhibition work; 

2) assistance in the protection of historical and cultural monuments of local importance;

3) preservation, study, popularization of knowledge and materials about the life and work of poets, writers, museum workers, culture and art of the region.

The Bukhar Zhyrau Regional Museum of Literature and Art was founded on February 1, 1990. In 1993, the museum was named after the great philosopher, zhyrau and poet Bukhar Zhyrau. The museum, which has no analogues in the republic, is located in a wooden house built in 1897, decorated with elegant ornaments.

There are 7 exhibition halls in our museum:

Oral Folk Art Hall. Kazakh folk oral literature is a centuries - old spiritual heritage of the nation. It is distinguished by its deep content, expressive language, richness of genres and educational significance.

Hall of ancient Turkic writing. Ancient Turkic runic inscriptions and manuscripts of the 7th-9th centuries, as well as various texts written in the Turkic alphabet, are presented in this hall.

Bukhar Zhyrau Hall. Bukhar zhyrau Kalkamanuly is one of the most prominent representatives of Kazakh literature of the 18th century. He was deeply worried about the unity and future of the people. Bukhar zhyrau became a prominent leader of his time and played an important role in the fate of the country.

The hall of literature of the early XX century. Kazakh literature of the early 20th century openly and boldly raised the idea of fighting against colonialism and striving for independence. All the poets and writers who came to literature at the beginning of the century were awakened during this period.

Peoples' Friendship Hall. The hall of Literary Friendship is dedicated to the creative work of representatives of other nations. The life and work of poets and writers who have left a significant mark on national literature and enriched it with their work are widely represented here.

Our contemporaries Hall. The hall of modern literature features expositions dedicated to the life and work of fellow countrymen, writers whose work reflects a new stage in the development of Kazakh literature during the years of independence.

The art hall. This hall contains expositions and valuable exhibits dedicated to the life and work of art masters who came from the Pavlodar Irtysh region.

Opening hours: tuesday-sunday from 9:00 to 18:00, without a break. 

Monday is a sanitary day.

-  for seniors - free of charge (if the relevant documents are available)

-  for participants of the Great Patriotic War - free of charge (if the relevant documents are available)

-  for the disabled of groups I, II and children with disabilities - free of charge (if the relevant documents are available)

-  for preschool children - free of charge 

-  for children from orphanages and homes for the disabled - free of charge (if the relevant documents are available)  

-  for children from large families and low-income families - free of charge (if appropriate documents are available).
