Könek

Akmola Regional Museum of History and Local Lore

Könek is a leather bucket used for milking mares. Made from cowhide or horsehide, its shape resembles a teapot, widening toward the bottom with a spout. To provide strength and maintain a round shape, a hoop made of tala is inserted into the neck of the vessel, over which the leather is stretched and sewn. The handle of the könek is made from a light-brown braided rope, crafted from camel hair and horse mane.
