Ossuary

Zhambyl Regional Historical and Local Lore Museum

The artifact represents an ossuary - a vessel intended for the storage of human bones - made of fired clay. It has a rectangular shape with slightly widening walls. The upper part is preserved in a broken state. The outer surface is decorated with relief ornamental elements, including panels divided by horizontal and vertical lines, as well as regularly arranged circular depressions.
The decorative system resembles architectural motifs, indicating the ritual function of the object. The surface is uneven, bearing traces of aging such as cracks and wear. Its light gray color reflects the clay composition and firing technology. This ossuary holds significant historical and cultural value as a religious and funerary object and serves as an important archaeological source for studying burial practices and the worldview of ancient societies.
