Murak (Ayrkalpak)

Kostanay Regional Museum of Local Lore

Murak (Ayrkalpak) is a man’s headdress.
Murak with a domed top and wide folding split brim made of white felt, embroidered with gilded metal threads.
Dating: Transferred to the museum in 1927 by the Kustanai Provincial Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) during the confiscation of the rich people’s estates.
It was seized from the house of Bermagambet Aldiyarov, a resident of village No. 10 of the Karabalyk district of the Kostanay district.
Material: felt, silk, brocade, metal threads.
Technique: hand weaving, sewing.
Size: 28х45 cm.
