Description
Kazakhstan. Baskur – a patterned woven ribbon for decorating a yurt, as well as for securing the joints with the kerge from the outside. It consists of woolen threads. The composition of the ornament is made in a combined technique of pile and non-pile weaving. It includes an alternation of stripes adorned with colorful patterns: “syngarmuyiz,” “ormekshi,” “qabyrga,” “ireksu,” “balykkoz,” “sharshy.” The edges of the baskur are bordered with a strip featuring patterns of “qazmoyin.”
