Description
A traditional headdress of married Kazakh women.
It is made of white cotton fabric.
The kimeshek has a triangular shape that covers the head, neck, shoulders, and chest. There is a slit for the face at the top, which is decorated with embroidery.
A vertical ornamental strip of red and yellow threads is embroidered along the neckline.
Large floral and geometric motifs are also embroidered with red threads on the sides and bottom.
The ornament is made in the traditional style: curls, “koshkar muiiz” and plant compositions.
Red color symbolizes life, joy and prosperity, and yellow - warmth and careful attitude to the hearth.
Such a kimeshek was worn by married women, and it was an important indicator of their social status.
By the richness of embroidery and the colors used, it was possible to determine the age of the woman and the region of her origin.
Judging by the ornament and multicolour, this kimeshek, was intended for festive occasions.
