Description
The shashka is a type of curved, single-edged cavalry sword that originated in the Caucasus region and was later widely adopted by Russian and Soviet military forces. It is known for its simple design, efficient cutting power, and versatility in combat, especially from horseback.
Blade:Slightly curved and single-edged, designed primarily for slashing.The curvature allows for powerful cuts, especially in mounted combat.
It is made by casting and forging technology.
It was found by chance in the Tarbagatai mountains of the East Kazakhstan region. It was donated to the museum in 2009 by Dauren Ryskeldin. The blade of the cavalry saber is single-breasted, steel. The inscription “1924” is engraved.
Total length- 95.5 cm, handle length- 14.5 cm, width- 11.5 cm, base length- 81 cm, width- 3 cm.
Condition
The metal has tarnished, and the wooden pads on the handle are missing.
