Description
The object is a collapsible and expandable structure consisting of individual lattice sections (arkan) connected to each other. This type of construction serves as the framework for the wall of a yurt – known as kerege. The lattices are secured with sagadaks – wooden slats placed along diagonal axes, allowing the structure to be extended or compressed. The wooden components are polished and painted, and leather fastenings are used at the joints to ensure both strength and flexibility.
Kerege is a key element of the traditional Kazakh yurt, combining mobility, lightness, and stability.
