Description

A traditional headdress of Kazakh married women.
The kimeshek is made of white fabric. In its central part, there is a rectangular cut that extends downward and is shaped like a U-shaped cut resembling a “pin.” Surrounding the cut is a wide decorative band with plant-like ornaments embroidered in brown threads, bounded by thin red lines.
The outer edge is adorned with a double pattern embroidered in red thread. At its ends, there are floral patterns resembling knots.
The kimeshek covers the forehead, the back of the head, the shoulders, and the chest of a woman, and is part of her clothing. Its decorations and ornaments had different meanings depending on the age and social status of the wearer.
