Description
Southern Kazakhstan. Baskur – a patterned woven braid used for decorating the yurt, as well as for securing the joints with the kerege on the outside. It consists of twisted woolen threads. The ornament’s composition is executed in the overlapping technique of terme. It includes alternating stripes with patterns – “juzteru” in black and red colors; diamonds with inscribed “tortqulaq” patterns. The edges of the baskur are bordered with a strip featuring wavy patterns in red and white colors.
